As I sit here with my thoughts, I wanted to finish up my simple lifestyle series but I just can’t today. This weekend has me filled with too many emotions and thoughts to focus. I felt like writing about how precious life is and what a gift it is.

As many of you heard about the passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter and seven others in the helicopter crash Sunday morning. I don’t follow sports but it was all over social media and the news. I can’t help but think about the families effected by this horrible tragedy. The what if’s and I should have’s going through their minds.

I don’t have a lot of close family or friends. My husband and kids are my whole life. If something happen to anyone of them, my world would be shattered. I can’t imagine what Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, is feeling today. Did she wake up and think it was all a bad dream and reality hit. I can’t imagine her pain from losing a husband and child.

Life is way too short, so live it.

We can get wrapped up in the day to day routines. Checking things off our to do list. Just going through the motions to make it through another day. Sure, I am guilty of this some days. Then we go on family vacations and I leave wanting more days like that. It reminds me of how blessed we are as a family. Our kids are healthy and still on this earth with us. We have this opportunity to spend time with them and watch them create a life of their own. Some are not as lucky as us and don’t get as much time.

Every day is a gift.

Every day we wake up and open our eyes is a gift. One more day to say, “I love you.” Another day to be with the one’s you love. Spend each day as it were your last, because we only get one life. One life to do the things we were sent here to do. Do what matters and forget about the rest. Forget about the drama and everything else that doesn’t bring you joy. Everything else is not that important. Find out what is important and pour your heart and soul into that.

Stop waiting and wishing your life was something else.

Your life is exactly what you make of it. If you want to spend more time with those that you love, find a way to make it happen. Forget about everything else that doesn’t contribute to what you envision your life to be. Stop wasting time on people who don’t care about you. If you were told you only had 6 months to live, what would you be doing TODAY? We don’t know how much time we have left on this earth. We need to make sure we are living a life that brings us happiness and joy. Otherwise, we have just wasted a lifetime.
